Savvy Navvy discusses innovation in boating at Boot Düsseldorf

With Savvy Navvy continuing to drive new innovations in the marine industry, its CEO and Founder Jelte Liebrand, was invited by European Boating Industry (EBI) as a panel speaker on digitalisation and sustainable advances in the boating industry at Boot Düsseldorf.

The panel discussion, held at the Blue Innovation Dock, discussed ‘how AI and digitalisation can allow the boating industry to grow and advance sustainability’ – as part of yesterday’s digital future of boating theme facilitated by EBI.

“It was fantastic to be part of such a forward-thinking and solution focused group on stage today. AI is undeniably transformative, not just for marine tech but the entire tech landscape. In an industry dominated by physical hardware, AI offers a new frontier. Its ability to process vast data, predict weather patterns, and optimise routes revolutionises navigation. From today’s discussion it’s clear the opportunities are huge, with AI advancements continuing to impact marine tech, ushering in an era of efficiency, safety, and innovation”, says Jelte Liebrand.

The panel discussion was facilitated by journalist Marcus Krall and also had representatives from Frauscher Bootswerft, techtalk.travel, Group Beneteau and Coeln Concept GmbH. All week, the Blue Innovation Dock programme has attracted crowds from industry leaders across the globe.

Savvy Navvy – often referred to as ‘Google Maps for boats’ – is a revolutionary, award winning boat navigation app that brings everything you need for a seamless boating experience, all in one place. We are one of the first to integrate multiple sustainable data sources from different conservation agencies and bodies.

At the end of last year data gathered by ProtectedSeas went live in the app, showing speed-limit zones to protect marine mammals, fisheries management areas among other protections – empowering boaters with information to make more environmentally conscious decisions while out on the water.
