Seagrass conservation, eRIB challenges, boat show digital maps and a whole lot more

Hey savvy friends,

It’s time for an update and this week we’ve got a lot going on from:

  • Announcing a global seagrass conservation initiative
  • Exceeding funding £1 million in funding through Seedrs
  • Launching SBS BoatLife’s first-ever digital exhibition map in the savvy app

Let's get started…

We’ve Launched a Global Project to Facilitate Seagrass Conservation

We’re part of an exciting new campaign between our team at savvy navvy and not-for-profit organisation, Clean Sailors and the Ocean Conservation Trust to support boaters to combat climate change by digitally mapping sensitive seabeds and eco-moorings across boating hotspots around the world.

The aim of the new global campaign, ‘#protectourbeds´, is to help stop vital seagrass from being destroyed. It’s about bringing greater awareness to water-users on where sensitive seabeds lie and encouraging them to minimise disruption by finding alternative locations or eco moorings.

savvy navvy users are from today able to see the location of existing seabeds and eco-moorings around the South West of the UK in our all-in-one navigation app. The project will build UK-wide sensitive seabed data and then focus on European waters and beyond through the course of 2023-24.

Round Britain eRIB 2023 World Record Attempt Brings a Spotlight to Zero Emission Propulsion in the Small Leisure Market

The Round Britain eRIB challenge is supporting the marine industry’s transition to electric propulsion by increasing public awareness of available technologies and shoreside charging options around the UK coast.

This voyage will be carried out by young skipper Harry Besley who will be 17 when he undertakes the challenge. Harry believes that powerboats need to stop using fossil fuels and this is his way of having an impact. An initiative that will lead the way in inspiring collaboration between companies, organisations and people to help drive change.

Would you like to show your support for Harry and his team?
